Terms of Use
Last updated: August 2, 2026
Welcome to Battle of Brains. These terms are a binding agreement between you and Battle of Brains ("we", "us", "our") and govern your use of our website, game surfaces and services (together, the "service"). By creating an account, making a purchase, hosting a battle, or joining one, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
The short version
This plain-language summary is here to help — it isn't a substitute for the full terms below, which are what actually govern your use.
- You can join a battle with a room code without an account; you only need one to host or to buy.
- One game credit runs one battle, and it's charged when the battle starts — not when you create it.
- Subscriptions renew until you cancel, and there's no grace period; we always email you before a period ends.
- Payments go through Paddle or PayPal and are charged in US dollars. A refund removes the game credits the purchase granted.
- Play fair, keep team names family-friendly, and don't copy our question bank.
- The service is provided "as is", our liability is limited, and the laws of Bahrain govern.

1. Definitions
A few words mean something specific in these terms:
- Host — the account holder who sets up and runs a battle.
- Player / Team — anyone who joins a battle from their phone using a room code, QR code or team link. Players don't need an account.
- Battle — a single game session, made up of one or more game modes.
- Display — the shared screen (TV or projector) that shows the battle to the room.
- Game credit — a unit that lets you run one battle.
- Subscription — a recurring plan that grants a monthly game allowance plus subscriber perks.
- Merchant of record — the company that legally sells you a purchase. For purchases made through Paddle, that is Paddle: it processes the payment, collects any tax due and issues your receipt. Purchases made through PayPal are sold by us directly, and PayPal processes the payment.
- Content — anything shown in or submitted to the service, including our question bank and anything you submit.
2. The service
Battle of Brains is a real-time multiplayer quiz platform for social gatherings, families, schools and events: a host sets up a battle from their account, teams join from their phones using a room code, QR code or team link, and a shared screen (TV or projector) shows the game to the room. The shared screen opens through a special display link that works without signing in — it is view-only, and only the host can produce it, so keeping it to the room is the host's choice. Game modes, categories, power-ups and the question bank evolve over time — we may add, change or retire features as the platform grows.
3. Accounts and eligibility
- Players joining a battle with a room code don't need an account. Creating an account — needed to host battles and make purchases — requires that you can lawfully enter into this agreement, or that a parent or guardian agrees to it on your behalf.
- You must be at least 8 years old to hold an account — the game is intended for ages 8 and up. Younger players are welcome to take part in a battle through a parent's or guardian's account and supervision. Purchases require that you are at least 18; a parent or guardian makes purchases on behalf of younger players.
- Provide a real, working email address. It's how email verification, password resets, renewal reminders and receipts reach you.
- You are responsible for your account, for keeping your password private, and for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly if you believe it's been compromised.
- One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to farm free games, coupons or referral rewards is not allowed.
- We may suspend or restrict accounts that abuse the service, disrupt games, or violate these terms.
4. Free demo battle
New hosts get one free demo battle, limited in modes and team count, which plays our showcase question set. The free demo is one per person, lifetime. We may change or withdraw the demo offer for new accounts at any time.
5. Game credits
- A game credit lets you run one battle, whatever mix of modes you pick for it.
- A credit is consumed when a battle starts — not when it's created. Lobbies you cancel before starting don't consume credits.
- Automatic fairness refunds: if a battle is aborted within a short window of starting, or breaks off barely played, the consumed credit returns to your wallet automatically.
- Inactive battles: a live battle left with no connected devices and no activity for an extended period (currently 24 hours) is ended automatically. Team names and scores stay in your battle history. If it was barely played, the credit returns to your wallet under the fairness rule above.
- Purchased credits don't expire, but they have no cash value, are non-transferable, can't be exchanged for money, and end with your account.
6. Subscriptions
- Subscriptions give you a monthly game allowance at a lower per-game rate, plus subscriber perks we may offer from time to time (for example early-access categories or display branding).
- Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Cancel anytime from your billing page; your access continues to the end of the period you've paid for.
- No grace period. The subscription allowance is available only while your subscription is active and inside its paid period. When the period ends, or a renewal payment fails, the allowance stops immediately — battles can't be started on it until payment succeeds. We email you before your period ends and if a payment fails, so this never has to be a surprise.
- Your subscription allowance is used before your purchased credits. Unused monthly allowance does not roll over.
7. Payments, prices and taxes
- You choose Paddle or PayPal at checkout. When you pay through Paddle, Paddle is the merchant of record: its checkout terms apply to the transaction and your receipt comes from Paddle. When you pay through PayPal, you buy from us directly, PayPal processes the payment under its own terms, and we email you the receipt. Subscriptions are billed through Paddle only.
- Prices are charged in US dollars. An amount shown in another currency, such as Bahraini dinars, is shown for guidance only; the charge is always in US dollars. Prices may change; changes never apply retroactively to what you've already bought, and subscription price changes take effect from your next renewal after notice.
- Prices may be shown inclusive or exclusive of applicable taxes depending on where you are. On Paddle purchases, any tax due is calculated and collected by Paddle at checkout and shown on your receipt. PayPal purchases are charged at the price shown at checkout.
8. Refunds
- Money refunds for Paddle purchases are handled in line with Paddle's buyer policy; PayPal purchases follow our Payment policy. Either way, contact us and we'll help you through it.
- When a purchase is refunded, the game credits it granted are removed from your wallet. If you've already used some of them, your balance can go to zero.
- The automatic fairness refunds in section 5 are credit refunds to your wallet, not money refunds.
9. Coupons and promotions
- Coupons and promotional offers carry their own conditions: validity windows, redemption caps, per-user limits, and sometimes eligibility rules (for example subscriber-only codes or codes assigned to a specific account).
- Promotional credit and discounts have no cash value. We may correct, limit or end a promotion early in cases of error or abuse.
10. Referral program
- You can share your personal referral link. When the required number of referred friends have created verified accounts, you earn the stated reward — once per account.
- Referred accounts must be genuinely new. Self-referrals, fake or duplicate accounts, and automated sign-ups don't count, and we may withhold or reverse rewards obtained that way.
- We may change or end the referral program for future referrals at any time; rewards already earned are kept.
11. Fair play and conduct
- Don't cheat, automate gameplay, exploit bugs, overload, probe, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service.
- Team names and anything typed during play must be respectful and appropriate for a family audience. Hosts can rename or remove teams in their battles; we may end sessions that are abused.
- Don't use the service to harass anyone, infringe anyone's rights, or break any law.
- Don't resell access to the service without our written agreement. Hosting battles at your own events — including ticketed events — is welcome.
12. Your content
- You may submit content to us: team names, contact messages, question reports, reviews and survey answers. You confirm you have the right to submit it and that it's appropriate for a family audience.
- If you leave a review or rating, you give us permission to display it (with your display name) on the service and in our marketing after moderation. You can ask us to remove a displayed review at any time via the contact page.
- We may remove any submitted content that violates these terms.
13. Feedback
If you send us ideas, suggestions or feedback about the service, we're grateful for it — and you agree that we may use it to improve Battle of Brains freely, with no obligation, restriction or payment to you. Feedback is given voluntarily and is not treated as your confidential information.
14. Our content and intellectual property
- The question bank, game design, software, artwork, names and logos are our property or licensed to us. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service as intended by these terms — nothing more.
- You may not copy, scrape, extract, or redistribute the question bank or any substantial part of it, in any form, including for training automated systems.
- Display branding offered to subscribers (showing your own logo and colors on the shared screen) is a display feature only — it transfers no rights in either direction over each other's brands.
15. Reporting infringement
We respect intellectual property and ask the same of everyone who uses the service. If you believe content on the service infringes your copyright or trademark, contact us through the contact page with: what was infringed, where it appears on the service, your contact details, and a statement that you are the rights holder or are authorized to act for them. We'll review and remove infringing content where appropriate, and may remove content or accounts that repeatedly infringe.
16. Quiz content and the host's call
Our questions are curated for general audiences and reviewed for accuracy, but no quiz is beyond dispute. In a live game the host's ruling is final — that's part of the fun. If you believe a question is wrong, hosts can report it in one tap during the game and we'll review it.
17. Third-party services
The service relies on trusted providers to run. How they handle your data is covered in our Privacy Policy:
- Paddle — checkout, billing and receipts for purchases made through Paddle, as the merchant of record for those purchases.
- PayPal — payment processing for purchases made through PayPal.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — bot protection on sign-up, sign-in and the contact form.
- Our email provider — delivery of account, billing and reminder emails.
- Our hosting and infrastructure providers — running the website and game servers.
These providers have their own terms. We're not responsible for their services, and an outage on their side can affect ours.
18. Privacy
How we collect and use data is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: we collect as little as we can, we never sell your data, and we don't run third-party advertising networks. By using the service you acknowledge that policy.
19. Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep the service fast and available, but it's provided on an "as available" basis — maintenance, live incidents, third-party outages and factors outside our control can interrupt it, including mid-battle. We may modify the service over time, including its modes, categories, pricing structure and features.
20. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, error-free or secure, that every question is free of error, or that it will meet your specific expectations. Some places don't allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
21. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows: we're not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill; and our total liability for all claims combined is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the first claim (or BHD 20 if you've paid us nothing). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
22. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Battle of Brains and the people who run it from any claims, damages, losses and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the service, your breach of these terms, content you submit, or your violation of any law or of anyone else's rights. We may take over the defense of any such claim, and you agree to cooperate with us if we do.
23. Termination
- You can delete your account at any time from your profile. Deleting your account ends your access to the service and to any remaining credits or subscription time, which have no cash value.
- We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these terms. Where the breach involves fraud or abuse, promotional credits and rewards obtained through it may be reversed.
- Sections that by their nature should survive — including content and IP, disclaimers, liability, indemnification, and governing law — continue to apply after your account ends.
24. Communications and notices
By creating an account you agree we may contact you by email for things your account needs — verification, password resets, receipts, payment-failure and renewal notices, and important service or terms updates. These count as written notice to you, so please keep your email address current. You can send us any legal notice through the contact page. Optional product emails can be switched off from your profile at any time.
25. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves; the date at the top reflects the latest version, and material changes will be announced on the service. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
26. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If something goes wrong, please contact us first — most issues are sorted out quickly and informally, and we'd genuinely rather talk than litigate. If we can't resolve a dispute within 30 days of you raising it, the courts of the Kingdom of Bahrain have exclusive jurisdiction over it. Any claim relating to the service must be brought within one year of when it arose; after that it is permanently barred, to the extent the law allows.
27. General
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stays in force. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any terms shown to you at purchase, are the entire agreement between us about the service and replace any earlier understanding. Our not enforcing a right isn't a waiver of it. Section headings are for convenience only. We may assign this agreement as part of a sale or reorganization of the business; you may not assign it without our consent. Nothing in these terms creates a partnership, agency or employment relationship between us.
28. Tournaments
Tournaments are knockout events built from a series of ordinary battles. When you start a tournament, the full number of battles in your bracket is reserved from your game credits or subscription allowance in one step — so a tournament can never run out of funding mid-bracket. If you cancel a tournament, or it expires after a long period of inactivity (30 days by default), every battle that was reserved but not played is automatically refunded. Sudden-death tie-break questions are free and never consume credits. Tournament join links stay valid until the tournament finishes, so an event may be paused and resumed across days.
